Car Key Replacement & Programming
Lost your only key? You don’t have to tow your car to the dealership. Our mobile locksmiths can cut and program keys on-site for most makes and models:
- Transponder keys: chip keys that must be programmed to your car’s immobilizer
- Key fobs and remotes: lock and unlock remotes, programmed to your vehicle
- Push-to-start smart keys: proximity keys for keyless ignition
- Laser-cut (high-security) keys: precision-cut keys for many newer vehicles
- Spare keys: a backup copy before you end up locked out
How Much Does a Car Key Cost?
Car key cost depends on a few things:
- Key type. A basic metal key costs the least. Transponder keys, fobs and push-to-start smart keys cost more because they need programming.
- Make, model and year. Some brands and newer vehicles need special equipment or key blanks.
- All keys lost vs. copying a key. Making a spare from a working key is usually cheaper than creating a key when every key is gone.
- Where you are. Mobile service means no tow bill, which often makes a locksmith cheaper than the dealership.

-
Will you damage my car?
No. We use professional automotive tools designed to open doors without scratching paint or damaging the lock, window or seals.
-
What do I need to show?
A photo ID, plus your registration or title. The name should match, or you should be able to show you're authorized to use the vehicle.
-
Can you make a key if I lost all my keys?
Yes, for most vehicles. We can cut a key using your VIN or the lock itself, then program it to your car on-site.
-
Is a locksmith cheaper than the dealer for car keys?
Often, yes, especially once you count the tow to the dealership. Call with your vehicle details and we'll give you a quote.
-
Does my insurance or roadside plan cover this?
Some auto insurance and roadside assistance plans cover lockouts. It's worth checking your policy. We can provide a receipt for reimbursement.
-
My key fob stopped working. Is it the battery?
Often, yes. If a new battery doesn't fix it, the fob may need reprogramming or replacing, and we can do either.
-
Is a child or pet locked in the car?
